There's a strong connection with the city of Pittsburg owing to the fact that Strayhorn was born in Dayton, Ohio and developed his musical skills in Pittsburg. Sidemen, bassist Dwayne Dolphin and drummer Cecil Brooks 111 are also native to Pittsburg. Together with pianist Hicks they give a fresh read on ten Strayhorn originals.
