New York Philharmonic

The New York Philharmonic is the oldest orchestra in the U.S. (founded in 1842) and one of the oldest in the world. Its pantheon of celebrated conductors includes Mahler, Furtwängler, Toscanini, Bernstein, Boulez, Mehta, and current music director Kurt Masur. The ensemble's achievements in radio, television, and other media have helped shape communications history, and the Philharmonic has built an extremely expansive discography. Here's a selected list of concerts from the first half of the season. Check out our recommended recordings of works being played.
