Reveille - Laced
Grade: C
By Jess Redmon

Reveille sound like Rage Against The Machine. The guitar style and sound is similar to Tom Morello and the vocals are reminiscent to Zach De La Rocha. Throw some House of Pain, Public Enemy and Tool in there and you have Reveille. It would usually be fine to banish the band as copy cats, but Reveille is quite talented. The 5 member Boston band blends Rage style into a new twist, with a roster of well-written rock songs. The first single "Permanent" runs with threatening rap vocals and a cold engineered guitar backing. "The Phoenix" and "Feel" spawn a blistering metal pace and aggressive crossover style. Steve Milkoszewski and Greg Sullivan's guitar work is very impressive on "Laced" as they build on some of Tom Morello's sounds and create a tightly wound and aggressive metal backing. It's hard to look at a band like Reveille and not hear the influences right off the bat. It's very difficult to assess a band like that. One thing for sure though, Reveille has a lot of talent and you won't be let down by the songs on "Laced" if you can get past the resemblance
